Dawn snuck out into the small patch on woods behind her house. This was her secret place, and she always come here when she need to think. She pulled her flip flops off and dipped her toes into the cool water of the creek. The way the water flowed around them was freeing. Her thoughts we jumbled and confused and this was the only place she knew that may begin to make them right. Wolf had come into her life and complicated everything. She knew that he was hiding something, even pushing her away, and she couldn't tell why.
She knew that if she continued down this road with him she would end up looking foolish, but she couldn't stop her self. She couldn't stop search for the truth. She saw a light in him a spark that she was unable to deny no matter what that meant. Even if it killed her and it very well might. She sighed audibly, and ran her hands lightly though her long red hair. There was so much she didn't know, and it was driving her mad.
The cove she sat in was beautiful. It seemed like a place that
existed only in fairy tales. A small waterfall cascaded into the pool
that her feet rested in, and the water reflected the color of hundreds of crystals the were imbedded in the rock bed. Grass grew up to the waters edge and was brilliantly green. Spotted although it were the tiniest yellow and purple flowers. It seemed like a place you would see a unicorn come out of the forest and have a drink in the rainbow color water.
Dawn looked down at her reflextion in the water. "Can I do this?" she questioned herself. Her whole life she had wanted things to change to be better, but now that those changes were at her door step, in a lot of ways she was terrified. She stared down at the girl she had once known she well. The emerald eyes that looked back at her were almost foreign. She wasn't sure who she was becoming, and it scared her a little. He had a power over her, he had tangled himself in her heart.
She let her self fall back and stare at the sky. It was broken and the light fragmented though the trees, but it was fitting as that was how she was looking at her own life now. She really had no idea what was coming next. She closed her eyes and tried to force her thoughts to something else, and she unintentionally drifted into sleep.
She stood in the forest in a dense fog. She blinked hard to clear her vision but it wasn't helping. Panic set in, she could feel the presence of something else, something that was coming for her. She tried to fight the urge to run, but in over took her. She was faster than she remembered being and she was grateful for that fact. However, it did little good, a wolf jumped in front of her path. She tried to scream but she was frozen in fear.
The wolf circled he slowly. Her panic was at a fever pitch. She
couldn't understand way the wolf was attacking her. It was like he was trying to tell her something, warn her of something worse to come. The fog began to lift and she found her self awake and in her safe cove once more. She sat up immediately. The sky had grown dark during her little nap. She grabbed her shoes and ran back to the house. She really was fast 'Maybe I should try out for cross country' she played with the thought in her head.
She burst though the door to find the house empty as usual. She found her mother's note with it's always lame excuse for not being home. It made a nice ball that she through into the trash.
The fridge was empty, for all intents and purposes. She signed and grabbed for purse from the counter. She didn't want to eat here alone anyway. She pulled her phone from her bag, and flipped it open. The illuminated screen seemed to mock her.
She casually flipped though her contacts list, and finally decided Wolf was the only one she even cared to hang out with tonight. He was the only one that wouldn't drive her crazy.
It's very rough draft but another bit from Dawn's story line.
